Job Summary The Senior Java Software Engineer is responsible for designing, building, modernizing, and supporting reliable enterprise applications and integrations. This role is ideal for an experienced developer with strong Java skills, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, technical team members, and external partners to deliver practical, maintainable solutions. The Senior Java Software Engineer will report to the IT Delivery Manager and work closely with IT, business stakeholders, and external partners to deliver and support enterprise application solutions.

This role is hybrid Chicago (working one day per week from the office). Compensation and benefits will be discussed during the recruiting process and will be based on experience, qualifications, and location.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Java-based enterprise applications and related integrations.
• Contribute to reliable software delivery through effective use of version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment practices.
• Support production applications by troubleshooting issues, improving stability, and participating in operational support as needed.
• Evaluate, refactor, and modernize legacy applications to improve performance, maintainability, scalability, and alignment with current technology standards.

• Develop a strong understanding of application functionality, data models, integrations, and supporting business processes.
• Translate business and technical requirements into well-designed, maintainable software solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across applications, APIs, integrations, databases, and data pipelines.

• Apply and promote engineering best practices in code quality, testing, release management, documentation, and monitoring.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve application reliability, maintainability, and developer productivity.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to improve system usability, functionality, and alignment with business needs.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, administrators, other developers, and external vendors to clarify requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts, progress, risks, and dependencies clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
