The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $ - $. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 10 %, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

Position DetailsGrainger is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help scale our Product Security team. You will solve real business problems with automation, self-service, and opinionated defaults that reduce risk without slowing delivery. Your work will focus on building guardrails, not gates, so developers ship more secure code. You will also identify and drive opportunities that help teams adopt good security practices.
You'll be responsible for everything you build, from design and delivery through production support.
You will work in a hybrid mode from our Lake Forest, IL or Chicago, IL offices. You will report to Manager of Security Automation.
You Will- Build applications and develop product design solutions in partnership with engineers, architects, and analysts leading to scalable and maintainable software solutions
- Utilize full stack specialized skills based on specific platform or domain as required
- Implement continuous delivery activities (CI/CD) and drive engineering best practices
- Support team activities and pair with peers to work on stories
- Coach and mentor junior engineers
- Consistently practice sensible defaults
- Design, build, and operate self-service, automated security capabilities leveraged company-wide across engineering teams
- Contribute across Product Security capabilities including secrets management, vulnerability management, policy as code (OPA), and application security risk platforms
- Work independently on ambiguous problems, drive designs to decisions, and document outcomes through Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
- Influence technical implementation decisions by connecting business requirements to technology choices and outcomes
- Identify and proactively manage risk while modernizing legacy services and reducing technical debt
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers, technical leads, and Product Engineering teams to shape roadmaps, priorities, and security automation solutions throughout the SDLC
