Cloud Engineer - Software, DevOps
For our client, we are seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This role will shape the technical direction of platform capabilities that support reliable, scalable cloud operations. You will partner closely with engineering teams to design self-service tooling, improve core infrastructure, and establish standards that make service delivery more efficient. The position will also play a key role in guiding architecture decisions, strengthening production reliability, and advancing long-term infrastructure strategy.
Location:
Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $168,000 – $240,000 annually
Responsibilities- Set the technical direction for platform capabilities and develop long-term cloud and reliability plans.
- Lead architecture discussions and guide technical decisions throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Design and maintain platform services and automation tools across multiple programming languages.
- Build self-service systems to enable engineers to deploy and manage services independently.
- Create and enhance standard workflows for service development and delivery, including libraries and templates.
- Improve core infrastructure components that support cloud operations and application needs.
- Define and use SLOs and error budgets to manage production reliability and operational decision-making.
- 8+ years in software or infrastructure engineering, with significant experience in production systems.
- Strong proficiency in languages like Go, Python, or Type Script, with a focus on maintainable services and tools.
- Operational experience with distributed systems, including performance improvement and high availability design.
- Expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
- Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Proven track record of establishing technical direction and mentoring engineering teams.
