Advanced Performance Pickleball Instructor/Coach

Location: Lakeshore Sport & Fitness is the premier Pickleball club in the downtown Chicago area. Located at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness - 211 N. Stetson Avenue, steps away from the Lakeshore East community and the Maggie Daley Park courts. There are 3 courts on our NBA-size basketball court with large, safe spaces around the courts for viewing areas and a regulation-size practice/lesson court a few floors down.

The club is 7 stories with over 85,000 square feet of facilities. The Pickleball program has over 210 players at all levels of play.

Overview

Lakeshore-Illinois Center is seeking an advanced level instructor/coach to train our better skilled Pickleball members. Also, able to teach non-members. Must have a DUPR or USA Pickleball rating of at least 4.0. Experience playing in local and regional tournaments a plus. Proficient at group and individual instruction. This is an hourly wage and commission-based position.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Teach private and group lessons to 3.50 to 4.00 plus level players.
  • Assist with Organized Open Play throughout the week. Making sure everyone is getting fair playing time. Play in when needed.
  • Coach group sessions like Skills and Drills and Cardio Pickleball.
  • Help organize and officiate tournaments and mixers throughout the year.
  • Help develop and coach a Lakeshore club travel team.

Requirements:

  • Be able to work daytime, evenings, and weekends
  • Be willing to work up to 15 hours a week
  • Must be 4.00 plus level player. DUPR preferred.
  • Comfortable working with all different age groups and be able to build positive relationships with the members
  • Friendly, outgoing, energetic, positive attitude
  • Have exceptional organizational skills, time management, and communication
  • Able to instruct Pickleball players in the basics of the game, strategy, shot selection and court awareness.
  • Have a strong knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport.
  • Must be US citizen and live in the Chicago area.

Preferred but not required:

  • Obtain one of the following certifications within 6 months of being hired: PPR, IPTPA, USPTA
