General Summary
Founded in 1898, DePaul University is the largest Catholic University in the nation. DePaul University competes at the NCAA Division I level and is a member of the BIG EAST Conference, sponsoring 15 sports. As a member of the DePaul Athletics Department, this role will support the daily operations of the Athletic Communications Office.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sport(s). This includes writing and distributing press releases, website maintenance, statistical recordkeeping, event management, fielding media requests and promoting awareness of the program to the local and national media outlets. (40%)
- Manage social media accounts for assigned sport(s) and assist in management of athletics department, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball social media initiatives. (15%)
- Assist with the design and maintenance of the Athletic Department website. (15%)
- Serve as liaison with local and national media on Athletic Department matters. Communicate with them on a regular basis to promote greater awareness of DePaul Athletics locally and nationally. (10%)
- Assist in game day operations of Men's and Women's home basketball events and other events as assigned. (10%)
- Assist director with the data collection, production and dissemination of press releases and media advisories pertaining to the Athletic Department. (5%)
- Knowledge of and adherence to DePaul University, BIG EAST Conference, and NCAA compliance policies and procedures. Attend and participate in monthly NCAA rules compliance meetings. (5%)
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be enrolled full-time in graduate program at DePaul University.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Encompass the ability to work independently and/or remote, with limited supervision, and make professional decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to travel between Lincoln Park campus, Wintrust Arena, and other off-campus competition venues.
- Supervises 3 to 5 student assistants.
- In order to avoid potential conflicts of interest, applicants may not work (paid or unpaid) for national, local, or University media outlets or entities.
- A prior working knowledge of NCAA, BIG EAST Conference, and University rules and regulations as they apply to intercollegiate athletics are preferred.
- Approximately 20 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and university holiday breaks. Work is unable to be conducted remotely and will have essential in-person responsibilities.
