Position Summary

The driver is primarily responsible for safely transporting all passengers to and from Lawndale Christian Health Center (LCHC) sites, and, on all LCHC business related trips while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards. Transported passengers include (but are not limited to) patients, clients of the Senior Center or Fitness Center, staff and volunteers.

Transported passengers include (but are not limited to) patients, clients of the Senior Center or Fitness Center, staff and volunteers.

• Uses knowledge of the Chicagoland area and route navigation apps to safely transport passengers in a timely manner
• Maintains a positive and professional attitude toward all passengers, LCHC staff, and proximate drivers or pedestrians
• Maintains the confidentiality of all participants’ personal and medical information
• Ensures that the vehicle is always clean and in proper working condition
• Determines and follows safe and efficient driving routes
• Completes routine vehicle inspections, reporting any conditions of concern to the Transportation Manager
• Maintains all transportation records required by the program including preparing and submitting reports that may include vehicle use, maintenance, and repairs
• Refuels vehicle and transports vehicle to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities
• Abides by all road and safety regulations set forth in the LCHC Transportation Manual, driver trainings, and Illinois Rules of the Road
• Assures that medical emergency procedures are followed in case of emergency or accident
• Attends and participates in Lawndale Christian Health Center’s pre-service and in-service trainings, and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities
• Attends ongoing transportation trainings as needed
• Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager

Required Knowledge, Experience, or Licensure/Registration

• Transportation:
  Knowledge of principles and methods for transporting passengers including relevant cost/benefits; an understanding of the Chicago grid system is required
• Customer and Personal Service:
  Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services (including needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction)
• Cultural Sensitivity:
  Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and Lawndale Christian Health Center and all its affiliations
