Job Title: Logistics Specialist - International Ocean Freight
Reports to: Director, Brands Department
Type: Full-time, Hybrid (minimum three days in person)

About the RoleWe are looking for a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Logistics Specialist to manage end‑to‑end international freight operations across multiple business units — Food, E‑Commerce/Brands, Hardgoods, and Fashion. This is a fast‑paced, high‑ownership role centered on ocean import logistics
, requiring daily coordination with overseas vendors, freight forwarders, and U.S. customers. Candidates must live within commuting distance of Chicago.
This role is a strong fit if you have direct, hands‑on experience with:
- Ocean freight booking and container management (this is a core daily function)
- Negotiating freight rates with carriers and forwarders
- Managing international shipping documentation (Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, COO, NOP, etc.)
- Customs coordination, including HTS classification and tariff awareness
- FOB shipment oversight from origin through final U.S. delivery
- Manage full logistics cycle from origin to final delivery
- Create, submit, and follow up on shipping calls with suppliers and forwarders
- Track container bookings and shipment progress at origin
- Identify the most efficient and cost‑effective routing options and communicate changes internally
- Maintain internal tracking spreadsheets; monitor arrivals, delays, and schedule changes
- Manage all shipping documentation and review/approve freight invoices
- Create trucking orders for inland transport from port to warehouse
- Oversee FOB shipments from origin to final U.S. delivery
- Prepare pro‑forma invoices for customs clearance
- Coordinate across vendors, customers, U.S. teams, Germany HQ, and China offices
- Communicate directly with customers on shipment status, delays, and SOP questions
- Support HTS classification and customs‑related coordination
- Coordinate U.S.
-based rework processes when needed (repackaging, replacement parts, etc.)
- 3+ years of ocean import / international freight experience — this is required, not preferred
- Demonstrated experience negotiating freight rates with carriers or forwarders
- Hands‑on experience managing ocean bookings and container tracking
- Proficiency with international shipping documentation and customs processes Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field
- Experience with Amazon FBA and Multi‑Channel Fulfillment
- Familiarity with multi‑country shipment coordination
