Job SummaryThe Shipping and Receiving Specialist will report to the GM and work closely with production departments to prepare printing jobs for shipment and receive shipments. The ideal candidate can multitask, work with accuracy and a sense of urgency, and has an interest in digital printing. Specific training in our job tracking software and forklift will be provided. Prior experience operating a forklift is a plus.
This position also includes cleaning support: managing recycling bins, keeping shipping and parking area clean, and cleaning bathrooms and breakroom as needed. The employee must be able to move pallets of material, navigate safely through a production environment, operate equipment, and identify safety hazards. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly, with assistance of others and material handling equipment.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision and distance vision.
- Operate forklift (on site training provided; Valid Driver's License Required)
- Receive incoming shipments, deliver to relevant departments, and enter Packing Lists into a tracking system
- Prepare shipments for delivery (Fed Ex Express, Ground, Freight, Messenger)
- Maintain organized packout area and runway for incoming/outgoing shipments
- Empty and manage large waste bins throughout the production area
- Cleaning duties: sweep production area, forklift runway, parking area; assist cleaning office areas and break room/bathrooms as needed
- Light maintenance tasks such as changing furnace filters
- Inventory packing and cleaning supplies
- Communicate as needed with Fed Ex/UPS
- Deliver packages to Fed Ex/UPS or USPS as needed
- Assist in fulfillment/distribution projects
- Retain samples from outgoing shipments and maintain in a retrievable system
- Help with print production as needed
- Connects and communicates well with a variety of people
- Has command of written and spoken English
- Is a self-starter and can work independently
- Has sound judgment, discernment, and solid problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Has a strong attention to detail
- Is extremely organized
- Will pass a background check
- Valid Driver's License
- Have basic familiarity with Mac or PC
- Have experience operating pallet jacks and forklifts
- Be comfortable using a spreadsheet to retrieve and enter information about jobs
- Have experience in the print industry
- Have experience with Fed Ex and UPS
This job generally operates in a production environment where the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and moderate to loud noise level. The role routinely uses a forklift and other equipment such as pallet jacks. The employee will handle general purpose cleaning products and chemicals used in printing, such as isopropyl alcohol.
Position Type & HoursThis is a full-time hourly position with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week, on site. Overtime on evenings and weekends may be required depending upon business necessity.
