Fleet Manager’s primary responsibilities are ensuring efficient utilization of JB equipment, coordinating equipment & material moves, negotiating JB equipment purchases, managing equipment repairs, managing rental equipment requests, scheduling equipment training and maintaining a safe and serviceable fleet of equipment for the company.

Cross functional:
Build social capital and trust with Construction Managers, Project Managers, and Program Managers. Mastering necessary conflict with these cross functional areas is part of the role of the Fleet Manager – demand & drive debate when necessary.

Monthly Deliverables
  • Department Budget Reporting (Cost vs Billing)
  • Equipment Utilization Percentage
  • Rental Cost per Labor Hour
  • Accurate Equipment Reporting & Monthly Equipment Repair Report (Internal & External Repairs)
Meeting Requirements
  • Host:
    Monthly Fleet Dept Meeting & Monthly CM/Fleet Meeting
  • Attendance:
    Weekly Tactical, Pre-Con (if requested), FM (if requested), PM (if requested)
Leadership
  • a) Focus on relationships – Fleet is customer service orientated. Strong relationships with the Foreman, CM’s, and Project Managers are essential to successful Fleet Program.
  • b) Focus on results – collective team results must supersede any personal objectives.
  • c) Attend forty (40) hours of continued training annually.
  • d) Active involvement in company sponsored teambuilding and charitable activities.
  • e) Consistently demonstrate behaviors in line with JBCC’s stated values.
  • a) Corporate Dashboard – track all Fleet owned KPI’s on corporate dashboards and provide a monthly update to the Vice President in their chain of command.
  • b) Assist in creating and maintaining compliance with all fleet department policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • c) Negotiate equipment rental and purchase terms – get a minimum of 3 quotes.
  • d) Track RPO’s monthly and assist in determining when JBCC should purchase equipment.
  • e) Approve Fleet Invoices – ensure that equipment repairs, and maintenance charges are applied to the appropriate PO number.
  • f) Track the Fleet Equipment Budget and provide monthly updates.
  • g) Track idle equipment (owned & rented) to ensure we are maximizing the use of our Fleet and not unnecessarily renting equipment.
  • h) Run weekly gps report to ensure all units are active, functioning properly & labeled with the appropriate driver.
  • i) Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program based on equipment miles and hours.
  • j) Maintain and update equipment master list.
  • k) Track equipment damage by Foreman, Construction Manager, and Job Number. Ensure all damages over $500 include a damage report with RCA.
  • l) Manage DOT driver files.
  • m) Renew all vehicle registrations.
  • o) Distribute and track all I-PASS transponders.
  • p) Track vehicle recalls.
  • q) Manage all vehicle violations (speeding & red-light tickets).
  • r) Title transfers and plating of all vehicles.
  • s) Coding of all Fleet invoices.
Safety Operations
  • a) Manage all OSHA and ANSI required safety inspections for the entire Fleet.
  • b) Manage equipment safety training.
Qualifications
  • 1. Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working for a construction contractor.
  • 2. High level of verbal and written communications skills.
  • 3. Proficient with all Microsoft Office products.
  • 4. Preferred experience with HCSS Heavy Job.
