Job SummaryThe Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe and timely transport of SRALab inpatients to and from scheduled appointments within the hospital and to external appointments at partner hospitals or clinics. The transporter serves as the primary liaison between patients, families and the institute during all transport activities.

Responsibilities Internal Transport- Rendezvous with nursing/admin staff, patients and family members at designated pick‑up/drop‑off points to transport.
- Transport patients via wheelchair, bed or stretcher to internal appointments and actively engage patients and family during transport.
- Ensure proper handoff of each patient to appropriate staff at the destination.
- Conduct return transport procedures, confirming proper handoff to nursing unit staff.
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment by following all policies and procedures.
- Safely escort wheelchair patients and family through parking garage walkways to vehicles.
- Safely operate the lift and load or secure patients and family.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the vehicle.
- Communicate effectively using timely verbal, non‑verbal and written communication.
- Willingly adapt to changing work demands and work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned in the best interest of the institute.
Reports directly to the Director, Central Supply & Distribution.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to safely drive and fully operate an ADA‑configured full‑size van (Ford E‑350) in an enclosed garage environment and dense, urban vehicular traffic.
- Basic computer skills and successful completion of transporter orientation.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and push/pull 100 lbs.
Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature. The statements below are not exhaustive.
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $17.05 – $23.32 per hour.
Benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement and paid time off. Eligibility may vary by position.
