How to give rides with Lyft

Open the app and go online.

Accept a ride request. You’ll see the route and estimated pay rate in the app.

Pick up your passenger.

End the ride. You’ll see your earnings instantly.

Lyft insurance protection

You’re required to maintain personal auto insurance that meets minimum state requirements. However, most personal auto policies will not cover you while you’re using the Lyft app. Where consistent with state and local laws, Lyft maintains commercial insurance on behalf of drivers. This commercial insurance provides certain coverages while you’re using the Lyft app.

Passenger ratings

Drivers rate passengers after each ride, so you’ve always got a say. We also require passengers to provide valid credit card information for identity verification purposes.
