EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time, direct-hire LTL Dispatcher for one of our partners, a busy Chicago-area logistics and freight-handling operation that keeps air and ground freight moving around the clock.
Job DescriptionIn this position, you will run the evening dispatch desk, coordinating drivers and shipments so freight stays on schedule from pickup through final delivery. It is a fast, high-volume role for someone who likes owning the board and keeping every load accounted for. Responsibilities include scheduling and dispatching drivers based on customer demand and daily operational needs, tracking and tracing shipments from pickup through final delivery, and keeping milestone and status updates current in company systems.
You will communicate constantly with drivers, warehouse personnel, customers, carriers, and airlines by phone and email. You will also coordinate pickup and delivery appointments and monitor driver locations, trip status, and available hours. Additionally, you will complete and process the documentation required for freight and airline operations, with accurate data entry and dispatch records. You will resolve service issues and communicate delays or exceptions quickly to keep freight on time.
Requirements include minimum one year of experience in LTL, local, regional, or long-haul dispatch. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required. Strong communication and customer service skills are necessary. Excellent organization, multitasking, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail are also required. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team, and availability for a 2nd-shift schedule that includes at least one weekend day is needed.
Preferred qualifications include experience in air freight, freight forwarding, or cargo handling. Experience coordinating truck moves against airline or terminal schedules is also preferred. Comfort learning and working in a proprietary, in-house dispatch platform is desired.
Benefits include competitive hourly pay in the $27 to $31 per hour range, with overtime available. This is a full-time, W2, direct-hire role with a long-established, always-on operation. A stable team environment where a strong dispatcher is visible and valued is provided.
