Air Cargo Ramp Agent (ORD) About WFS

Job Summary

As a Cargo Ramp Agent, you will load and unload cargo on and off aircraft, transport cargo between aircraft and terminal areas, and ensure secure handling in compliance with WFS site security plans. You are responsible for monitoring the safety and security of the warehouse and reporting any breaches or suspicious activity to management or the WFS whistle blower program. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Load and unload aircraft cargo weighing up to 80 lbs. and position containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs. on rollers with or without aircraft.
  • Transport cargo to and from aircraft using a 3,000‑lb. vehicle, navigating congested areas and using depth perception to maneuver vehicles with attached carts.
  • Read off‑load sheets to determine cargo destination and ensure correct placement.
  • Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight and company material at designated express docks.
  • Complete required forms and messages related to cargo handling duties.
  • Confront and report unauthorized personnel in secured areas.
  • Adhere to a regular and timely work schedule.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work in a high‑noise environment.
  • Ability to understand and respond to verbal commands and safety warnings, with or without visual aids.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off.
  • Participation in the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and payment of union dues, as required by the collective bargaining agreement.
Preferred Skills
  • Effective communication with others.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Judge distances accurately.
  • Work in high‑noise environments.
  • Perform duties in inclement weather.
