Addison Group has been retained on a confidential search for a Director of Safety & Security with a fast-growing, asset-based transportation company operating a fleet of more than 150 trucks.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity reporting directly to the CEO and is ideal for a hands-on transportation safety professional who has successfully improved CSA scores, built strong driver safety programs, and understands how safety directly impacts insurance costs, accident reduction, and operational performance.
We're looking for someone who has earned credibility in the trucking industry—not someone who simply manages compliance from behind a desk. The ideal candidate understands FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, HOS, ELDs, accident investigations, and driver coaching, while also possessing the leadership skills to build a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
A former CDL driver who has transitioned into Safety leadership would be an outstanding fit, although it is not required.
Ideal
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Transportation Safety leadership within an asset-based trucking company
- Proven success improving CSA Scores and reducing preventable accidents
- Extensive experience with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, HOS, ELDs, Driver Qualification Files, and regulatory compliance
- Strong driver coaching and leadership experience
- Ability to analyze safety metrics and implement proactive improvement strategies
- Experience with Samsara, McLeod, and/or Ten Street is a plus
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools such as ChatGPT to improve reporting, communication, and training
This organization has built a strong safety foundation and is looking for a leader who can take the department to the next level while partnering closely with Operations and Executive Leadership.
