About the role
The Senior Inventory Control Analyst will play a critical role in achieving and maintaining accurate inventory levels at Dyson. A major focus of this role will be comprehensive inventory reconciliation
-ensuring all inventory records are aligned between Dyson and our 3PL warehouse partners. The analyst will monitor and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded, investigate and resolve discrepancies, analyze returns, and spearhead the development and ongoing management of reconciliation processes and reporting.
This position also supports the mentoring and training of team members, embraces continuous improvement, and adapts swiftly to Dyson's fast-paced environment.
Regular onsite presence at our Chicago campus is required, five days per week.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and own all inventory reconciliation activities between Dyson and 3PL partners, including investigating, documenting, and resolving discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory balances.
- Oversee daily activities of Inventory Control. Guide Inventory Specialists and support Inventory Control Analysts with transaction management, reconciliation, and data analysis.
- Collaborate with the Inventory Control Manager to analyze returns, identify trends/issues in returns and reconciliation, evaluate data, and develop clear reporting for management.
- Partner with 3PLs to ensure inventory reconciliation processes are effective, including timely and accurate returns handling and issue resolution.
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline reconciliation and inventory control processes.
- Prepare and review daily and monthly reconciliation reports on all inventory balances and transaction variances, ensuring swift resolution of any found discrepancies.
- Support the month-end close process, focusing on ensuring all inventory transactions are fully reconciled and accounted for.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with 3PLs; communicate effectively to ensure reconciliation and inventory processes are followed; escalate issues to the broader Supply Chain team as needed.
- Lead and participate in annual and ad hoc physical inventory counts, including post-count reconciliations to verify accuracy.
- Analyze and resolve credit or inventory discrepancies in partnership with Inventory Control and Accounts Receivable.
- Process manual stock movements in Dyson's SAP inventory system (e.g., kitting, retail refusals, re-pack adjustments, scrapping), ensuring all adjustments are fully documented and reconciled.
- Mentor and train new and existing team members on inventory reconciliation, returns management, and best practice processes.
- Eagerly take on projects or tasks that align with the scope and spirit of the role.
- Bachelor's degree required; preferred major in Supply Chain or Operations Management.
- 3+ years of direct inventory control or inventory reconciliation experience required.
- Experience handling returns and supporting detailed reconciliation in a supply chain/warehouse environment strongly preferred.
- SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Month-end close and reconciliation experience is required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to dissect and resolve large data sets and discrepancies.
