Position: Warehouse Worker I

Salary

$25.04 - $39.30

Position Summary

Receives, stores, issues and ships materials.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Inspects incoming materials to verify descriptions and quantities received.
  • Loads and unloads material.
  • Operates a variety of material handling equipment to move supplies.
  • Picks, packages and ships materials to various locations, as required.
  • Operates a computerized inventory control system to access and manage information.
  • Performs janitorial duties and other housekeeping tasks.
  • Maintains the facility, equipment and materials in a neat, clean and efficient manner.
  • Uses other computer equipment to enter, organize and retrieve information.
  • Performs cycle inventory counts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Must be able to perform arithmetical computations including fractions, decimals and percentages.
  • Must pass a physical examination and perform the physical activities associated with this position.
  • Must possess basic keyboarding skills and be familiar with hardware and software applicable to warehousing operations including Oracle Systems.
  • Must possess the skills and attributes necessary to competently operate the various types of mechanical equipment used in warehouse activities.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid State of Illinois Driver's License.
  • Must be able to transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Must pass applicable tests.
  • Must have experience operating forklift equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and carry parts, equipment and supplies up to 60 lbs, and maneuver material up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to push hand truck, pallet jack, carts and boxes, and pull materials from racks and shelves.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and balance on ladders when retrieving material.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl when picking and placing material into lower bins or shelves.
  • Must be able to reach and handle materials, including finger and feel tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate with user departments and supervisors, hearing instructions and approaching material moving equipment.
  • Must have near vision to review purchase orders, move tickets, claims, etc.; far vision to locate stock material, lot numbers, etc.; and color vision to identify certain parts and materials.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to operate mechanical equipment used in warehouse/stockroom operations.
  • Ability to accurately count and check materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • RFID/Scan Gun/Barcoding experience preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Exposed to dirt, loud noise and all weather conditions.
  • Exposed to extreme cold when working on dock in winter.
  • Exposed to extreme heat when working on dock in summer.
  • Exposed to extreme wet and/or humidity when working on dock on hot humid days.
  • Exposed to noise from overhead blowers and heater motors.
  • Exposed to atmospheric conditions such as fumes from running engines of trucks on dock, oil room odors, and dust within warehouse facilities, on shelves and racks.
Equipment, Tools, and Materials Utilized
  • Disposal equipment such as balers, shredders and compactors.
  • Lifting equipment such as forklifts, order pickers and pallet jacks.
  • RFID/Scan Gun/Barcoding equipment.
