Overview
The Warehouse Operator II performs the physical movement of products and materials from one location to another and is responsible for maintaining accuracy of shipping, reporting any damages, and supporting safe, efficient warehouse operations.
Responsibilities- Handle cartons, pallets and materials while taking measures to avoid damage and injury.
- Label, stencil and write on cartons and documents.
- Sort, organize, and segregate cartons, pallets and materials; cut, knock down and dispose of cardboard boxes as needed.
- Verify exact part numbers and quantities; report damages and discrepancies.
- Re-pack or re-work damaged or out-of-spec product as needed.
- Report known policy violations and maintain accountability for company assets.
- Use scanner interfaces to record transactions and utilize systems to create labels or work instructions.
- Select, handle and transport unitized pallets; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform tasks safely, accurately and steadily within allocated time; strive for 100% internal and external customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Note:
In some facilities, duties listed in the contract logistics Warehouse Operator job description may also apply due to business necessity or shared locations.
This position does not supervise any direct reports.
Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Education, Skills and Experience- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- One to two years of experience in a warehouse shipping, receiving, or inventory handling environment (preferred).
- Working knowledge of warehouse tools and equipment (preferred).
- Basic proficiency with a warehouse hand-held device; forklift certification (preferred).
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems, basic inventory control, and domestic transportation documentation (preferred).
- Attention to detail; customer-focused; teamwork oriented.
- Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or related documents in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to read and follow safety policies and procedures; basic math skills; ability to input data into a relational database.
- Willingness to work overtime hours and some weekends.
- Stand, stoop, kneel, sit, crawl and walk for extended periods.
- Push and pull loaded carts, pallet jacks and related equipment.
- Lift and carry cartons, materials and wooden pallets (minimum 25 pounds).
- Use arms, hands, fingers and body to transport materials; perform duties with attention to senses including vision and hearing.
- Work indoors and outdoors in a warehousing and distribution facility, including in trailers and containers.
- Operate around electrical or battery-driven packaging machines and conveyors with moving parts.
- Exposure to dampness, humidity, and ambient temperatures; vary lighting conditions.
- Use manual material handling devices such as forklifts, dollies and pallet jacks.
