Ryder is hiring a Material Handler in Chicago, IL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a career you can feel good about.

Pay
  • Hourly Pay: $20.00 per hour
  • Overtime Pay: $0.00 per hour
  • Additional Pay: $1.00 per hour when assigned to second shift
  • Schedule:

    Second Shift, Monday - Friday 3:30 p.m.

    - 12:00 a.m.
About the Role

Warehouse Forklift Operator / Driver positions support distribution across the United States. The role involves handling pallets of paper bags, operating an Electric Crown Sit Down Forklift, and working in a clean, organized, and well‑run facility.

Responsibilities
  • Perform warehouse functions, including loading, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, forklift operation, cycle counting, and documenting paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate picking and packing, auditing, tote induction, staging of products, and loading/unloading of trucks.
  • Follow performance measurement guidelines of the contract and assist with technical and maintenance support for the automated packing system during core shift hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) year or more related warehouse and/or powered industrial truck experience preferred.
  • Valid Forklift Operator's License.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a diverse work environment.
  • Highly thorough, dependable, punctual, and with a good attendance record.
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure.
  • Ability to lift and/or push/pull up to 35 lbs, stand for long periods, and work using health and safety methods.
  • Flexibility to work on various shifts.
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow‑up practices.
