The Shipping and Receiving Helper is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL. This role supports daily warehouse operations by assisting with loading and unloading trucks, moving materials, and organizing products in the shipping and receiving area. Responsibilities include checking incoming shipments against documentation, labeling and preparing orders for shipment, and maintaining accurate records of received and shipped goods. The role also involves using basic warehouse equipment, keeping work areas clean and safe, and working closely with supervisors and team members to ensure timely and accurate order processing.
The Shipping and Receiving Helper is expected to follow all safety procedures and company policies while supporting smooth day-to-day logistics.
- Ability to perform manual material handling tasks, including lifting, moving, and stacking boxes and hardware products safely.
- Basic understanding of shipping and receiving processes, such as checking packing slips, labeling packages, and preparing orders for shipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when counting items, verifying quantities, and recording information.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work both independently and as part of a team, and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of equipment and adherence to warehouse safety guidelines.
- Basic math and reading skills, and comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, or manufacturing is helpful but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work a consistent full-time schedule on-site in Chicago, IL.
