Schedule: Mon-Fri – 7:00AM – 3:30PM

The City of Chicopee's Department of Public Works - Flood Control Division is hiring a MEO Maintenance/Flood Control Maintenance Worker to assist in the operations, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of all Flood Control and WPC facilities, including but not limited to flood control pump stations, levees, and flood walls. Performs all related duties to properly operate and maintain the flood protection system.
ESSENTIALDUTIES INCLUDE:
- Operates pumps, motors, and electrical equipment, power tools, mowers tractors, motor vehicles.
- Clean, lubricate, maintain, compressors, vehicles, works with preventative maintenance program and related tasks.
- Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and mower.
- Responsible for mowing of steeply sloped levee system.
- Operate, clean, repair, lubricate, and paint, pumps, drives, gates, mowers, buildings, and vehicles.
- Responsible for maintenance of building and grounds.
- Cleans buildings, washes windows, and empties trash cans.
- Paints interior and exterior of buildings including but not limited to walls, railings, and trim.
- Drives truck and loads fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck and delivers to disposal location.
- Works as needed in all DPW divisions as needed; WPC-pump station and collection system work, and coordination between the departments will be required on a daily basis.
- Purchases supplies and materials according to City purchasing procedures.
- Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines, and mower.
- Drives truck and loads fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck and delivers to disposal location.
- May be required to assist with operation and maintenance of combined sewer overflow (CSO) pumping/treatment facilities.
- Must be available to assist with snow removal operations at all WPC, Pump Station, and Flood Control Facilities, not only during normal working hours but also available evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Following the necessary training/experience and performance review, will be required to be on Emergency Standby.
- All other related tasks as assigned by the WPC Chief Operator, Assistant Chief Operator, and Flood Control Supervisor.
- Adheres to all state, federal, and local safety regulations as well as City of Chicopee Health and Safety policies.

QUALIFICATIONS- Massachusetts Class B CDL License –
Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent OR one (1) year of related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
