CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES REQUIREDMassachusetts Class B CDL License, Air brakes and Tanker Endorsement, Massachusetts 2C Hoisting License or obtain within six (6) months.
SUMMARYThe City of Chicopee’s Department of Public Works Water Pollution Control Division is hiring a Water Pollution Control-Attendant who will assist in the operation, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of all plant process equipment, buildings and grounds, for their proper and safe operation. Also drives vehicles to transport facility residuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE- Clean, lubricate, maintain compressors, vehicles, shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, work with preventative maintenance program and related tasks.
- In charge of day‑to‑day maintenance of all assigned vehicles; drive, maintain, clean, scheduling of routine preventative maintenance and registry inspection.
- Participate in the day‑to‑day repairs, cleaning, mowing, polish, and maintenance of all buildings inside and outside grounds of establishment.
- Cut grass and trim weeds, dig flower beds and plants flowers.
- Clean buildings, wash windows/floors, perform general janitorial duties, and empty trash.
- Purchase supplies and materials according to City purchasing procedures.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning/janitorial supplies, building and ground maintenance supplies and order the same as needed.
- Paint interior and exterior walls and trim.
- Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Rake rags, grit, and take care of material recycling.
- Clean/operate scum and grit collection, paint and lubricate equipment.
- Use hand and power tools, maintain spare parts.
- Replace worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment such as snow blower, and riding mower.
- Work in enclosed tanks and underground confined spaces.
- Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine(s).
- Operate CDL vehicles as needed for the removal, emptying of containers, transportation and disposal of residuals and material(s).
- Operate all City owned vehicles including skid steer, loader, roll‑off truck, etc.
- Abide by City of Chicopee Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Required: Massachusetts Class B CDL License.
- Required: Air brakes and Tanker Endorsement.
- Preferred: Massachusetts Class A CDL License.
- Massachusetts 2C Hoisting License or obtain within six (6) months.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
