Facilities Custodian

POSITION SUMMARY

The City of Chicopee's Facilities Department is hiring a Facilities Custodian who will perform routine custodial duties during an assigned shift, maintaining the municipal building and adjacent grounds in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition.

• Empty trash.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
• Wash, strip, and wax floors.
• Clean carpets as needed.
• Maintain outdoor grounds: mowing lawn, string trimming, raking, leaf blowing.
• Clean areas outside the building.
• Vacuum, clean, and dust inside the building as needed.
• Respond to work orders as needed or assigned.
• Perform small carpentry, electrical, and plumbing work with assistance.
• Snow removal: snow plowing, shoveling, snow blower use, and ice melt application.
• Fill in at different locations as needed or assigned.
• Other duties as assigned and secure buildings.

• Successfully complete and pass a Board of Probations background check.
• Fingerprinted based background check.
• Successful completion of Basic Security Awareness Training within six (6) months of hire and biannually thereafter.
• Massachusetts Class D driver's license.
• High school diploma/G.E.D. or one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in building maintenance.
• Preferred: working knowledge of landscaping equipment and snow removal equipment.

Non-Exempt, UFCW 1459 Laborers, Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)

Salary:
Grade 5L, Step 05 - $18.31 - $21.00/Hour
