Job GoalProvide students, patrons, and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean facility conducive to a good learning/working atmosphere.
Performance Responsibilities- Maintain building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, keeping them neat, safe, and clean at all times.
- Regulate heat, ventilation, and air‑conditioning equipment for maximum efficiency.
- Maintain, clean, and replace filters in heating and air‑conditioning equipment.
- Unlock buildings in the morning and lock all necessary doors at the close of the day to maintain security.
- Clean corridors after school each day and as directed during the school day.
- Cleans classrooms, chalkboards, and trash cans daily.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect all restroom floors, fixtures, and drinking fountains daily.
- Make minor repairs as qualified and assigned.
- Report all major repairs needed promptly to the supervisor.
- Assume responsibility for lights to maximize energy savings.
- Conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance on the school facilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Move furniture or equipment on campus as required for various activities as directed by supervisor.
- Comply with all laws regarding storage and disposal of chemicals, trash, rubbish, and other waste.
- Attend all required training, workshops, and programs.
- Perform other custodial duties as deemed necessary by supervisor for best management of school facilities.
- Work hours may vary from site to site and from job to job to best fit the needs of the school district. Hours may be subject to change.
- Perform tasks including: replacing ceiling tiles, changing light bulbs, repairing floor tiles, hauling trash, installing and repairing playground equipment, trimming, mowing, edging, painting, tightening screws, cleaning grounds, repairing fences, setting up for programs, installing equipment (tackboards, sharpeners, chalkboards, etc.), cleaning flower beds, seeding, fertilizing, watering grass, and unplugging stools prior to work request.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or Site Principal.
Job Description – Custodian
- In an eight‑hour workday, the employee must: sit 0 hours, stand 4 hours, walk 4 hours.
- Perform repetitive actions such as bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching above shoulder, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and pushing/pulling frequently.
- Carry/lift loads: up to 10 pounds (frequently), 11–24 pounds (frequently), 25–34 pounds (frequently), 35–50 pounds (frequently), 51–74 pounds (occasionally), 75 pounds and up (occasionally, with proper lifting techniques and assistance).
- Use hands for repetitive movements such as simple grasp, firm grasp, and fine manipulation.
- Work at unprotected heights, around moving machinery, in changing temperature and humidity, drive automotive equipment, and be exposed to dust, fumes, and gases.
