Job Description

Job Title: Daytime Custodian

Reports To: Director of Operations

Contract: 12-month

Benefits: Employee Health, Dental and Life Insurance

SUMMARY: Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the school facility including the facility grounds and custodial services.

Other duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitors and maintains all physical facilities on a planned basis to ensure a safe, clean, well-maintained appearance.
  • Maintains an inventory for all custodial supplies.
  • Opens and closes school buildings and activates and disarms security alarm systems as assigned.
  • Responsible for the general appearance and cleanliness of the buildings and grounds.
  • Empties wastebaskets within designated areas; transport trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs, classrooms, shops, labs, lounge and office areas.
  • Assembles, cleans, dusts, and maintains furniture, tables, chairs, equipment and other facility furnishings.
  • Clean windows, blinds, doors, walls and window ledge as needed.
  • Sweep sidewalks, entrances, and other exterior areas as needed.
  • Clean, sweep, mop, and scrub bathrooms; refill soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers.
  • Assist with preparing facilities for special evets, meetings, and school activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

  • Education/

    Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate and present information.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to use and understand basic mathematical skills.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
