Shirley Parsons is partnering with a leading construction organization to identify a Site Safety Representative to support a large-scale distribution center construction project in the Chicago area. This individual will provide on-site safety leadership, partner with project teams to promote a proactive safety culture, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements.
- Location: Chicago, IL
- Start Date: ASAP
- Estimated End Date: July 2027
- Schedule: 40 hours per week
- Provide daily on-site safety support for active construction operations.
- Conduct routine site inspections, safety observations, audits, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Lead new hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training.
- Promote compliance with OSHA regulations, company standards, and project safety requirements.
- Review subcontractor safety plans and monitor contractor safety performance throughout the project.
- Support incident investigations, identify root causes, and help implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection reports, and compliance records.
- Partner with project management and field teams to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks.
- Monitor high-risk activities including fall protection, confined space entry, crane operations, electrical work, and material handling.
- Support emergency response planning, site drills, and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
- Track safety performance metrics and communicate findings to project leadership.
- Minimum of 2 years of construction safety experience
, preferably supporting distribution center, industrial, commercial, manufacturing, or mission-critical construction projects
. - Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 regulations and construction safety best practices.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- CHST or other BCSP certification preferred.
- Experience working alongside general contractors and subcontractors on active construction projects.
- Union construction experience is a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
