Travel Educational Interpreter - Cicero, IL

This opportunity is for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support in educational settings. As a traveling interpreter based in Cicero, IL, you will facilitate clear and effective communication between hearing-impaired students and their peers, teachers, and staff across various school locations.

Responsibilities include:

• Interpreting spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities
• Supporting students with hearing impairments to access the full curriculum and participate in social and extracurricular activities
• Collaborating with teachers, aides, and other educational staff to create an inclusive learning environment
• Traveling to multiple school sites as needed to deliver interpreting services

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with interpretation experience in educational settings
• Strong knowledge of educational terminology and classroom procedures
• Ability to work independently and manage travel between locations efficiently
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Relevant certification in sign language interpretation preferred
