Education & Transitional Support Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate Education & Transition Support Coordinator to advocate for children and youth in foster care, ensuring access to quality education and successful transitions to adulthood. This role partners with case managers, caregivers, schools, and community agencies to support educational outcomes and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary education liaison, ensuring timely school enrollment, attendance, and appropriate educational services
  • Advocate for children's educational rights, including special education and early intervention services
  • Collaborate with case managers and caregivers to support academic success and resolve school-related challenges
  • Monitor educational progress, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with agency and regulatory standards
  • Provide training and guidance to staff and caregivers on education policies, advocacy, and available resources
  • Support transition planning for youth (age 14+) including post-secondary education, employment, and life skills
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, districts, and external partners

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching, special education, or child welfare experience
  • Strong knowledge of education systems, child welfare, and advocacy practices
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally
