Overview

The Assistant Director of Academic Records & Advising in the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University provides academic support services for 450+ McCourt graduate and undergraduate students as part of the McCourt Academic Advising team and manages the infrastructure in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs that enables staff to assist McCourt students and faculty. The person in this role supports the McCourt faculty and administration in implementing policies as it relates to student registration, degree progress, and capstone/thesis completion and makes recommendations on student-related issues.

The Assistant Director also assumes responsibility for special projects as needed.

Additional Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Serve as an academic advisor across all McCourt academic programs as part of the McCourt Academic Advising team.
  • Manage and enhance tools to assist with tracking student academic progress.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to assist students in reaching completion of their academic program, whether through school-wide initiatives or individual cases.
Work Interactions

The Assistant Director of Academic Records & Advising reports to the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at the McCourt School of Public Policy. The person in this position interacts with all degree students, the McCourt Student Affairs teams (Academic Advising, Student Engagement, Admissions, and Career Development), the McCourt faculty, Faculty Directors, the Office of the University Registrar, Office of Graduate Studies, and numerous student support services.

Requirements

And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience required; 3 years in higher education advising preferred.
  • Previous experience working with students in distress and student information systems, required; experience with graduate academic programs, preferred.

Pay

Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

  • $44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
