Wind Turbine Technician - Tech One Program

Position Overview

TOP – Wind Technician Level 1 – The #1 Wind Technician Development Program (TOP) is a structured career path for entry-level wind technicians, created in partnership between Sky Climber Renewables and Vestas Americas. The role offers full‑time paid employment with comprehensive training, competitive pay, and benefits. The technician will work locally at a wind site, operate as part of a service team, and perform preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine generator equipment.

• Basic Safety Training (First Aid, CPR, Fall Protection)
• Tower Safety Training (high‑angle rescue, wind tower rescue)
• Technical Training (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems)

• Legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license and clear motor‑vehicle record
• Pass background check and drug screening
• Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English
• Successful completion of a climb preview before hire

• Associate’s degree in a technical mechanical field, wind energy discipline, or equivalent experience
• Mechanical or electrical background
• Ability to read and interpret basic diagrams and wiring schematics

• Climb wind towers up to 300 ft. multiple times per day and work comfortably at height
• Walk across the hub and, if needed, rappel off
• Work comfortably in confined spaces
• Frequent climbing, walking, standing, and bending
• Handle up to 50 lbs repeatedly
• Combined weight of employee, PPE, and gear must not exceed 300 lbs (PPE and gear may weigh up to 40 lbs)

• Perform basic mechanical installations, maintenance, operations, and upgrades per established procedures
• Use tools safely and demonstrate knowledge of their application
• Dismantle and assemble basic machinery, components, and equipment
• Accurately document all work performed
• Follow all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) procedures
• Work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed; willingness to travel up to 25%
