Sign Language Interpreter in Cicero, IL

A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential support to students in an educational setting located in Cicero, IL. This role supports both Extended School Year (ESY) and Non-School Year (NSY) services, ensuring effective communication access and hearing itinerant services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) services during the regular school year, providing 330 minutes per day of full-day interpreter support.
• Providing Hearing Itinerant (HI) services with 100 minutes per week of direct intervention and 180 minutes per month of consultative support.
• Offering ESY services from June 15, 2026, through July 24, 2026, Monday through Friday, with 1100 minutes per week of interpreter services.
• Conducting HI services during ESY with 100 minutes per week of direct support and 75 minutes per month of consult.
• Collaborating with school staff and families to facilitate communication and ensure educational access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Maintaining accurate documentation and participating in team meetings as required.

Desired qualifications and experience:

• Certification or proven proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• Experience working in educational settings providing SLI and HI services.
• Ability to manage time effectively and deliver services across varying schedules.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, educators, and families.
• Knowledge of best practices in deaf education and interpreting.
