Regional Environmental, Health & Safety Manager Elgin / Northwest Chicago Suburbs | Multi-Site Manufacturing
A growing, well-established manufacturer is seeking an experienced Regional Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to provide EHS leadership across multiple manufacturing locations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an EHS professional who enjoys the combination of hands-on manufacturing, multi-site leadership, developing people and partnering with Operations.
The successful candidate will be visible in the facilities and comfortable moving between the plant floor and senior leadership. Technical EHS expertise is important, but so is the ability to build relationships, influence decisions and create practical solutions that Operations will embrace and sustain.
What You'll Be Doing- Provide EHS leadership and direction across multiple manufacturing facilities
- Coach, mentor and develop site EHS Managers and professionals
- Partner with Operations and plant leadership to identify and reduce workplace risk
- Translate broader EHS objectives into practical site-level priorities and action plans
- Strengthen consistency of EHS programs, processes and expectations across locations
- Evaluate hazards and prioritize risk using both operational knowledge and data
- Promote engineering and systems-based solutions using the hierarchy of controls
- Support environmental, occupational safety, industrial hygiene and process-related risk programs
- Review injury, near-miss, exposure, audit and compliance trends to identify opportunities before incidents occur
- Lead and support regulatory and internal compliance audits
- Strengthen incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective-action processes
- Ensure corrective actions address underlying causes and are completed effectively
- Partner with Engineering and Operations on capital projects, new equipment and process changes
- Help integrate EHS considerations into operational planning rather than addressing them after the fact
- Identify successful programs and solutions that can be standardized across multiple facilities
- Lead continuous-improvement initiatives designed to reduce risk and improve overall EHS performance
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline
- 5+ years of progressive EHS experience within manufacturing
- Multi-site, regional or comparable leadership experience strongly preferred
- Experience leading, coaching or developing EHS professionals
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements
- Experience with environmental compliance and permitting
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene, risk assessment and incident investigation
- Experience working collaboratively with Operations, Engineering and plant leadership
- Ability to influence across functions and levels without relying on direct authority
- Strong analytical skills and experience using EHS metrics and trends to drive improvement
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities across several locations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- CSP, CIH and/or CHMM certification is a plus

- Able to balance immediate plant needs with longer-term EHS strategy
- Position is based in the Elgin / Northwest Chicago Suburbs
- Candidates should live within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to the area
- The role supports several locations, including facilities within the greater Chicagoland area
- Periodic out-of-state travel will be required
- This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership position
