Hourly Rate: $18.00 hour

This position is responsible for performing general maintenance, janitorial services and any necessary repairs of CALBG facilities. Responsibilities will also include event set‑ups, and be flexible to complete assignments to support various CALBG activities.

• Performs general maintenance duties including: painting, maintenance of buildings, maintenance of pathways; assist in maintenance of irrigation systems, vehicles, garden carts, and other various equipment.
• Perform setups for Garden functions including: positioning tables, chairs, and other props as required at various locations throughout the Garden. Garden functions, requiring set up, occur throughout the year during the week and on weekends, days and evenings.
• Janitorial duties include, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing and polishing floors, dusting furniture and blinds, cleaning lavatories, replenishing supplies, carpet cleaning, window washing, trash removal, etc.
• Performs plumbing and electrical repairs.
• Locks up building and checks grounds for late visitors. Opens and closes front gate for garden events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalency.
• Knowledge of custodial, building and equipment maintenance.
• Knowledge and ability to work safely with maintenance tools and equipment.
• Able to work in a safety‑conscious manner.
• One or two years of experience in general maintenance.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to work successfully with others and independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be flexible and willing to work days, evenings and weekends.

• Operates manual and powered tools.

This position will require standing and/or walking and climbing stairs and ladders throughout the facility for extended periods of time on any work day. General maintenance and cleaning will require heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crawling and crouching. Must be able, and willing to work outdoors year round and in various weather conditions. Ability to maneuver in narrow spaces required.

This position requires ability to lift 50 lbs, and work up to an elevation of 10ft off the ground.
