Responsibilities
  • Set up, clean up, and pick up for scheduled events. Participate in cleaning fields for games and weekend events.
  • Attend events set-up meetings as assigned.
  • Respond to work orders promptly and coordinate with vendors for joint work orders.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with preventive measures on campus and perform minor repairs including plumbing, small leaks, and shutting off valves.
  • Provide an after‑hours presence on campus and report illegal or disruptive activity to Campus Safety.
  • Respond to emergencies, evaluate incidents and issues, and enforce campus policies when necessary.
  • Review and adjust sprinkler coverage throughout watering cycles.
  • Perform housekeeping duties: clean bathrooms or dorm rooms, clean spills and glass, spray for ants, and other housekeeping tasks inside and outside buildings.
  • Remove and dispose of trash from exterior trash cans.
  • Evaluate and reset circuit breakers.
  • Troubleshoot basic HVAC complaints and address requests.
  • Clean debris from tree lighting and review for proper function.
  • Clean and wipe trash receptacles, glass rails, campus signage, and pipe handrails.
  • Keep records of night‑shift incidents.
  • Assist with access to various doors on campus for students and vendors.
  • Solicit input from administrators in major buildings and departments to identify issues or concerns.
  • Operate powered blowers, lawn mowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, and other powered equipment as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, fire codes, and campus safety standards.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Any combination of education, training, and/or experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience:

    Minimum three years of grounds keeping or maintenance experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Licenses and

    Certifications:

    Valid driver’s license and forklift trained and certified.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Must stand, walk, bend, climb, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds from the ground to the waist without assistance; climb ladders up to 6 feet unassisted; work on feet for prolonged periods; pass a functional capacity test.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of safe working methods and procedures; cleaning chemicals.
    • Ability to walk or drive safely around campus during night time and in low light.
    • Operate campus vehicles safely and meet insurance requirements.
    • Communicate and provide direction clearly and professionally.
    • Work independently and cooperatively with others.
    • Wear uniform and safety equipment as required.
    • Work in a diverse student population environment.
    • Work in areas exposed to different odors and spills.
    • Change light bulbs in various fixtures (training provided).
    • Basic plumbing knowledge.
    • Operate powered equipment such as blowers, mowers, edgers, hedge trimmers.
    • Take and follow directions; receive constructive feedback.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor.
    • Multitask effectively.
    • Understand and follow basic instructions in English.
    • Know College policies and enforce them.
Schedule

The regular hours for this position are 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Friday through Tuesday. Hours may vary due to college needs and may include earlier start times, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

Pay range: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour.
