Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Candidate will be an employee of the Fiber Plant facilities department. The person shall provide support to all areas of the fiber facility. Position is a Flex 40 position typically working Monday‑Friday; off‑hours support may be required to keep critical equipment operational.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and facilitate completion of preventative and corrective maintenance activities independently or with support from the Maintenance department and/or outside contractors.
- Ensure all regulatory checks on facilities and environmental control equipment are completed and paperwork remains organized.
- Ensure regulated waste is properly labeled, organized, and scheduled for disposal.
- Identify facility corrective maintenance needs through visual inspection and/or review of daily inspection logs.
- Act as a medical first responder in the Fiber Plant.
- Comply with all requirements in 40
CFR
261‑265 concerning hazardous wastes, including labeling, storage, and transportation of hazardous wastes from production areas to the Waste Storage Pad. - Work with technical staff to resolve daily facility issues.
- Ensure all product meets requirements defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
- Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO
14001 EMS guidelines. - Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.
- Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience (required).
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering or technology (preferred).
- Completion of on‑the‑job training for this classification, in a timely manner (required).
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics for equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Experience in fiber optic manufacturing (preferred).
- Experience with SAP or other CMMS systems (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented and quality‑focused.
- Knowledge of basic statistical tools.
- Motivated team player.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to analyze data to aid in improving maintenance metrics.
