Position SummaryThe Maintenance Technician I performs skilled and semi-skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance, including inspections, repairs, and servicing of power generation equipment and water production facilities. The position supports preventive maintenance programs and assists in maintaining safe and reliable plant operations.
Work is performed under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor within a power plant environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance Operations- Performs maintenance and repair work on turbine-generators, boilers, pumps, and related plant equipment
- Conducts preventive maintenance activities according to established maintenance schedules
- Assists in inspection and maintenance of water wells and chlorination systems
- Cleans and services condensers, heat exchangers, and associated equipment
- Completes assigned maintenance work orders
- Assists with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment issues
- Works with outside contractors during major repair activities
- Supports plant operational reliability through timely maintenance response
- Participates in skill development programs for advancement within the maintenance series
- Assists in training activities when assigned
- Follows all plant safety procedures and utilizes required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Maintains safe work practices in industrial operating environments
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor

- Ability to operate tools and maintenance equipment safely

- Ability to work safely in hazardous industrial conditions
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Technical or vocational training preferred
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of mechanical or electrical maintenance experience preferred.
Licenses and CertificationsValid Mississippi Driver’s License required.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in a power plant environment involving exposure to noise, heat, machinery, dust, and hazardous conditions. Position requires lifting to 50 pounds and operating tools and equipment.
