Purpose and Scope
Primary responsibilities involve the processes that handle receipt and/or shipping of material, ensuring items being stowed or shipped meet customer requirements. May use anti‑static devices. Reports to Designated Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
Essential Responsibilities- Identify, examine, classify, accept, reject, and dispose of material per regulations.
- Perform visual examinations or use measuring devices and techniques under mentoring assistance of senior personnel.
- Use basic inspection/examination procedures for material.
- Read specifications, photographs, blueprints, schematics, etc., as required in DLA contract under mentoring of senior personnel.
- Load material on and off of skids, pallets, stands and prepare labels as required.
- Prepare basic reports.
- Operate tools and equipment in performance of duties.
- Receive data from and input data to automated systems for receiving/shipping duties.
- Operate material handling equipment as assigned and hold appropriate license.
- Count, weigh, record data, apply tags and labels.
- Make preventive maintenance adjustments to related equipment.
- Minimum three (3) months of general work experience demonstrating ability to perform position requirements; no specific experience required.
- High school diploma or GED required; experience may substitute one year of general experience for one year of high school education.
- Ability to obtain MHE license within 30 days of selection.
- Ability to successfully complete Inert Certification training requirements.
- May require travel; may require ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Shop environment with hazardous equipment, moving MHE, obstacles, and high volume of activity. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, have full dexterity and correctable vision. Outside work in hot and cold or wet weather often required. Work environment may have fumes or airborne particles; noise level loud; protective devices required to avoid injury.
Position may require availability on short notice for all shifts in multiple work areas including frequent evenings and Saturday shifts.
- Safety – Participate in safety culture, complete training requirements, fulfill self‑aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participate in emergency response and safety committees.
- Quality – Conform to Amentum Quality Policy and take responsibility for customer satisfaction, read and understand quality management responsibilities.
- Procedure Compliance – Read, understand, and implement operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to the job.
Hourly rate: $20.92. The compensation range is a good‑faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, internal equity, market data, collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
