The HEP Custodial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment across all campus facilities. This role supports the mission of the organization by ensuring buildings, grounds, and equipment are well-maintained and present a welcoming, dignified environment for clients, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
PRINCIPALJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, common areas, and other campus facilities.
- Perform routine floor care, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and occasional deep cleaning upon request.
- Empty all trash and recycling cans, wipe them clean as needed and replace them with new trash liners.
- Restock supplies and notify Facilities and Maintenance Manager when inventory is low.
- Clean all doors and windows, dust door frames, ledges, windows, blinds, air vents, and ceiling/wall fixtures.
- Wash and dry all kitchen towels and dorm linens.
- Replace all dispensers with towels, tissue, and hand soap as necessary.
- Report any areas of repair needed to the Facilities and Maintenance Manager for inspection.
- Work with Maintenance Technicians in the turnover of units, such as trash out, maintenance repairs, and thorough cleaning of appliances, floors, and walls.
- Ensure HEP grounds are clean and safe at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools.
- Assist with volunteers on projects including coordinating supplies needed.
- Abide by all HIPAAlaws and regulations.
- Follow all OSHA safety industry standards and HEP policies and procedures.
- Respond to accidents, spills, and bio-hazard cleanups promptly.
- Required participation in On-Call After Hours Program.
- Maintain superior professional rapport with residents, co-workers, vendors, and the community.
- Adhere to all HEP required trainings.
- Follow all other duties assigned by the Facilities and Maintenance Manager.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- HEP paid training provided.
- Sensitivity to the cultural diversity of clients to successfully work with diverse racial, ethnic, and economic groups.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety standards, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Must be willing to cross‑train in various maintenance areas as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
- Prior proven satisfactory cleaning experience.
- Bilingual a plus but not required for position.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat, wet/humid, dry/arid conditions.
- Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, climbing, lifting, etc.
as well as extended periods of time on feet.
- Comfortability with crawling in tight spaces.
- Driving company vehicles for business purposes.
- Walking and standing on uneven surfaces around HEP campus.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds with ease;
Anything over 50 pounds requires a team lift. - Clean, valid FL driver’s license.
- Must be able to successfully pass Level 1 background, drug, and alcohol screenings.
