Reporting to the Facilities Manager and Lead Maintenance Tech, the Maintenance Technician assists in all aspects of facility maintenance, renovation, and repairs. Duties include general maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and projecting a student-focused, professional image in all interactions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Participate in a 24‑hour emergency on‑call schedule on a rotating basis.
- Respond on‑site within 45 minutes for emergency calls; reliable transportation required.
- Assist with the facilities maintenance plan and preventive maintenance schedule, responding to all service requests within 24 hours.
- Support the Facilities Team in creating a student‑first environment that excels in customer service, communication, and quality of service.
- Perform general plumbing repairs: leaks, drains, toilets, sinks, showers, and gaskets.
- Perform electrical repairs including bulb and ballast replacement, fixtures, sockets, outlets, and GFCIs.
- Complete painting, drywall repair, and replacement projects as scheduled.
- Clean and maintain equipment and tools routinely and as directed.
- Maintain, clean, and organize the maintenance shop daily.
- Repair and replace entry doors, locks, and key systems.
- Complete exterior maintenance repairs and projects as directed.
- Monitor and maintain entrance ways, walkways, common areas, and hallways to ensure they are clean, clear, and safe.
- Handle daily removal of building trash and recycling.
- Assist with restoring rooms and common areas to their original condition after resident or guest move‑out.
- Work overtime when approved; leave is not approved during the property's turn periods outside of emergencies and unforeseen situations.
- Ensure proper safety procedures are followed and personal protective equipment is used.
- Participate in regular inspections of buildings and systems as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, and generally accepted maintenance practices.
PreferredEducation and Experience
Associate’s Degree or Vocational Degree in a trade, facilities management, project management, or related field.
Knowledge of chilled water systems and fan coil units.
Previous experience with student housing or campus facilities maintenance.
Physical RequirementsMust perform operations such as standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
