Minimum education & Experience
- Less than high school diploma or GED and minimal experience in housekeeping or building cleaning work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical requirements
- Regular exertion of up to 25–50 pounds of force; occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force.
- Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
- Sitting, speaking, and hearing as required.
- Ability to operate machines, observe surroundings, and work near moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, vibration, and moderate noise.
- May require wearing specialized personal protective equipment.
Perform intermediate manual custodial work in the care, cleaning, and general maintenance of the Cleveland County Department of Social Services building and related facilities under limited supervision.
Responsibilities- Maintain bathrooms in a sanitary condition; refill tissue, towels, and soap dispensers; clear clogged toilets or sinks.
- Keep lobbies, waiting rooms, exam rooms, offices, and other areas clean – sweep, mop, wipe down chairs and tables, clean glass, vacuum, and dust surfaces.
- Deliver freight to all floors that comes into the building daily and arrange supplies.
- Set up and take down conference room tables and chairs for meetings; move furniture between floors as needed.
- Sweep sidewalks and entrances, remove trash from building surroundings daily (weather permitting).
- Lock or unlock the building as required.
- Assist other housekeeping/maintenance staff with moving office furniture and file cabinets as needed.
- High school diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of experience as a custodian, housekeeper, or building cleaning worker.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the supervisor and HR for approval.
Additional InformationIndividuals hired must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
