Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing troubleshooting and maintenance work for capital equipment, processes, and facility systems. This role involves diagnosing equipment issues, making necessary repairs, and carrying out preventative maintenance to ensure smooth and safe operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to follow written and oral work instructions while also demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment and Process Maintenance & Repair

  • Diagnose and resolve equipment and process problems efficiently, communicating progress and results with supervisors and team members.
  • Develop an understanding of processes and equipment to proactively anticipate potential issues and determine effective solutions.
  • Perform maintenance tasks with accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to safety and quality.
  • Assist with the moving, installation, and setup of equipment, including related services such as plumbing and electrical work.
  • Complete maintenance assignments as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Facility Maintenance & Repair

  • Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and facility structures in a safe and timely manner.
  • Identify and implement innovative or alternative solutions to facility-related issues.
  • Support facility upkeep, including organization of supplies and maintaining a clean, orderly environment inside and outside the building.
  • Disassemble facility equipment, inspect parts for defects, repair or replace components, or fabricate parts as needed.
  • Carry out facility-related assignments as directed by the Plant Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor.

General / Interpersonal Skills

  • Follow standard operating procedures while applying experience and problem-solving to address maintenance challenges.
  • Take initiative in completing tasks with energy and focus, regularly meeting or exceeding improvement goals.
  • Maintain open communication with management, operators, and team members to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
  • Respond to direction and accept responsibility for outcomes, keeping stakeholders updated throughout projects.
  • Be available for overtime as needed to address safety- or operations-critical issues.
  • Adapt to changing conditions, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and technologies, and share knowledge with colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of prior experience in maintenance or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move across the production floor for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to work in environments that may be hot, humid, or involve exposure to chemicals (with appropriate PPE).
  • Ability to operate a tow motor (forklift).
