Full-Time Cleaner/Custodian
The Warrensville Heights School District is seeking a full-time cleaner/custodian. Performs custodial duties to protect and preserve buildings, grounds, equipment, and furnishings. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment, compliance with drug-free workplace rules and board policies, and keeping current with technology and other workplace innovations that support job functions.
Skill/experience in boiler operations, preventive maintenance, and basic repair procedures is required, along with knowledge about building systems (e.g., HVAC, fire suppression, security, communication, etc.). Ability to read, understand, and comply with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) is essential. A minimum of 2 years custodial experience in a public institution is required. Additional training and work experience deemed essential by the board of education and administration at the time of hire.
Essential functions include performing custodial duties, taking initiative to perform routine tasks independently, keeping the head custodian informed about emerging issues, upholding board policies and following administrative guidelines/procedures, promoting a professional image of the school district, and supporting community partnerships that enhance district programs. The position also requires effective communications and assistance, problem-solving techniques to address questions/concerns, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
