Licensed Stationary Engineer
The primary objective of the Stationary Engineer is to monitor/operate boilers, boiler auxiliaries (pumps, fans, motors, etc.), chilled water system, compressed air system, electrical distribution system, chemistry and auxiliary system status continuously. Make rounds routinely, start and stop subsystems as load demands, and records information and events pertaining to daily operations. Maintains, troubleshoots and repair boiler, chilled water, and other system equipment as necessary.
Works as either the shift stationary engineer, plant control room operator, or system maintenance engineer as assigned by the Operations/Maintenance Director. They will be challenged with operating the plant in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner. Work with leadership to cultivate a family oriented inclusive culture.
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Stationary Engineer will be an integral member of the MCCo Team consisting of (8) Management personnel and (28) Bargaining Unit staff members.
Important peer relationships include the MCCo Maintenance, Electrical/I&C and Distribution personnel, along with client facility peers. Additionally, the Stationary Engineer will be charged with maintaining important external relationships, including a positive working rapport with clients, as well as, various vendors and contractors.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Monitor plant operations on a continuous basis throughout the assigned shift, starts and stops equipment as needed, monitor steam pressure and critical system instrumentation. Log all rounds and activities in the applicable electronic platforms. Test and log all Water Chemistry.While on operational shift duty, perform minor repairs to equipment as needed. Lubricate moving parts and replace filters. Performs regular tests on equipment. Cleans and organizes the plant and surrounding area.Operates boiler and chilled water systems and adjusts plant output in response to load demands. Remains current on all boiler and chilled water operational procedures.Coordinates startup and shutdown of boilers, pumps, and all other equipment as it affects current plant output.Monitors water level and steam pressure and operates pumps, compressors, and other controls to maintain proper equipment loading. Remains aware of current boiler and chilled water system status.Reacts in emergency situations to safeguard lives and bring boiler and chilled water systems to normal operating levels. Monitors equipment for potential hazards.Sustains consistent plant operations and performance through regular maintenance of boiler, chilled water, and other plant equipment.Rebuilds, repairs, and installs compressor, pumps, filters, regulators and other controls. Repairs and replaces all malfunctioning plant equipment.Install, repair and replace plant piping, valves and all other auxiliaries.Has a complete knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, water, and steam systems.Monitors oil and water levels, pressure and temperatures of boilers and the status of other components for safe operation.Regularly inspects pumps, tanks, belts, fans, insulation and other components.Substitutes for the shift boiler control room operators as necessary and performs maintenance as assigned by the Operations/Maintenance Directors.Be able conduct valve lineups, Lock-out Tagouts, JSA's/Pre-Job Briefs, and authorize hazardous work permits.Must be aware of all plant work/evolutions in progress.Monitors security systems, reports unauthorized personnel in the plant and notifies authorities in emergency situations. Logs all security and emergency incidents. Answers all phone calls to the control room.Shall work with limited supervision from the Operations/Maintenance Directors.Follow all safety and regulatory guidelines/standards for the facility.Familiarity with industry compliance, best practices and training standards.Performs other duties as assigned.Ability to:
React and take action quickly in all compliance and operational matters.Analyze difficult and complex issues and strategies, reach sound, logical fact-based conclusions and provide recommendations;Understand, interpret, explain and apply local, state and federal policy, law, and regulation standards as they relate to MCCo Operations department;Understand internal reporting systems to ensure regulatory compliance and plant efficiency.May participate in the strategic planning, organization design, implementation and monitoring of comprehensive programs;Evaluate departmental practices and make sound recommendations for improvement and develop and assist in implementing appropriate procedures and controls;Exercise sound, expert independent judgment and political acumen within general policy guidelines;Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of MCCo employees, clients, business and community partners;Proven, exceptional ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams from a servant co-worker…
