Sciences are working with a global chemical manufacturer who are looking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and reliability activities at their Cleveland facility.
This is a key leadership position responsible for driving equipment reliability, maintenance strategy, safety, continuous improvement and team development across the site.
The Role- Lead and oversee all preventive and corrective maintenance activities across production equipment, machinery and facilities.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies focused on maximizing uptime, improving reliability and minimizing production disruption.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) following equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Manage maintenance activities through a CMMS, including work orders, preventive maintenance, asset history, inventory and performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain a rolling 3-year Maintenance, Facilities and Equipment plan.
- Lead, develop and mentor a team of maintenance supervisors, engineers and technicians, creating a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
- Manage maintenance scheduling and resources to support 24/7 operations where required.
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, including contractors, spare parts, tools and services.
- Drive opportunities to reduce maintenance costs while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability and performance.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with PSM requirements, including MOC, asset integrity, incident investigations, PHA activities and operating procedures.
- Champion a strong safety-first culture, including LOTO, PPE, audits and risk assessments.
- Drive reliability and continuous improvement using OEE, MTBF, MTTR and other maintenance KPIs.
- Implement Lean, TPM and/or Six Sigma initiatives to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
- Partner closely with Engineering and Operations on capital projects and site improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management or a related technical discipline preferred.
- 5–10+ years of maintenance experience, including 3+ years in a leadership position; alternatively, significant technical maintenance experience with 5+ years of leadership.
- Experience managing maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of PSM, MOC, RCA and asset reliability.
- Experience working with CMMS systems and maintenance performance metrics.
- Technical knowledge across equipment and systems including PLCs, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, thermal oxidizers, dust collection, solvent recovery, fire protection, nitrogen systems, bulk storage/transfer, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- A strong track record of developing technical teams and improving maintenance performance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
