Position:
Cleaner/Senior Cleaner (Anticipated for  School Year)

Education:

High school diploma or GED equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required:

BCI/FBI background check (renewed every five years per ORC 3319.39 and ); completion of all annual Public School Works training.

Reports To:

Maintenance Supervisor;
Superintendent;
Administrator; or Designee

Work Schedule:

195/260 days (based upon experience); hours per day upon assignment Salary

Non-Exempt, Hourly Bargaining Unit: CHASE Preferred:
Valid Ohio driver's license; prior cleaning or custodial experience.

Duties:

-Maintains a good attendance and punctuality record.

-Shows respect at all times in language and actions to school personnel, pupils, and visitors, and cooperatively works with others productively.

-Follows school policy, safety procedures, rules, and regulations.

-Maintains a neat and appropriate appearance.

-Responsible for general cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, cafeteria, and other facilities as assigned.

-Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and scrubs floors using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.

-Cleans and sanitizes restrooms including fixtures, mirrors, partitions, and floors; restocks supplies.

-Empties trash and recycling receptacles; transports waste to designated collection areas.

-Dusts and wipes surfaces including desks, tables, countertops, ledges, light fixtures, and vents.

-Handles, mixes, and stores cleaning chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements and district protocols.

-Reports safety hazards, facility damage, suspicious activity, and maintenance needs to the supervisor or building administrator promptly.

-Cleans up work area as required.

-Notifies supervisor of problems with proper operation of equipment used and other job-related irregularities.

-Keeps supervisor informed of all cleaning and maintenance supply needs.

-Assists with setup and teardown of furniture and equipment for school events as directed.

-Performs all other related duties as may be assigned.

Training Requirements Public School Works:
All assigned modules required annually. Failure to complete within established deadlines may result in disciplinary action. Safety and Chemical Handling:
Completion of all district-required training on chemical safety, SDS procedures, and blood borne pathogen protocols before independent assignment. Emergency Preparedness:
Participation in all building-level safety drills and emergency exercises as scheduled. Equipment Training:
Completion of district-provided training on assigned equipment before independent operation. Training will be provided by the Maintenance Supervisor or designee.

Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy 4200, applicable provisions of the Ohio Revised Code, and the negotiated agreement between the Board and CHASE. Evaluation criteria are aligned with the duties outlined in this job description.

Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds independently; use of a cart, dolly, or second employee is recommended for loads exceeding 40 pounds. Ability to climb step stools and ladders as assigned. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions including exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, noise, and temperature fluctuations.

Working Conditions Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, noise, and temperature variation. Frequent physical activity including standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens. Occasional work outside regular hours to support building events or emergency needs. Exposure to emotionally charged situations when interacting with students, staff, or members of the public.
