Summer Custodian and Grounds Employment (Seasonal)

TITLE: Custodian and/or Grounds Summer Employment

TYPE OF POSITION: Summer Employment (Seasonal)

HOURS OF WORK: 7:00 am-3:00 pm, (7.5 hours/day, 37.5 hours/week); with a half-hour unpaid lunch

HOURLY RATE: $15.00/hr.

LOCATION: Schools/Town Buildings and/or Grounds, based on the Department’s needs

The Town Facilities Department is looking for summer help to assist with the summer workload.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Move office and classroom furniture.
• Disinfect/clean classrooms, offices, gymnasiums, cafeterias, and other items needed to prepare school buildings for the upcoming school year.
• Assist with buffing and waxing floors – if under 18 years of age mopping only, no machine work.
• Assist with Summer painting projects and other items requested by the building/area lead.
• Perform supervised grounds maintenance to surrounding School or Town Buildings depending on the assigned location.
• Potential use of lawnmowers, weed trimmers, or other small lawn tools to assist with ground maintenance, depending on assigned tasks provided by the area lead.
• Work safely and follow the instructions/guidance of the Lead.
• And, other duties, as deemed necessary.

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS:

• Start date will be no later than July 1, 2026
• Anticipated end date is August 23, 2026
• Any scheduling conflicts for the summer are to be communicated to the Director in advance (at the beginning of employment for ease of scheduling), such as planned days off/vacation plans and return to school dates, if possible.
