As a hotel engineer, your job is to troubleshoot and repair hotel equipment, facilities, and systems, including HVAC and electrical. You will perform preventative maintenance, conduct regular inspections, coordinate the maintenance staff, diagnose problems, and stay within budget.

• Perform routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage (e.g., window, door, or wall repair)
• Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore use of water fixtures
• Work on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
• Maintain the building HVAC equipment to keep climate control functioning properly
• Apply preventative measures to reduce future problems, such as using sealant on a flat roof
• Fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
• Paint the building when paint has become faded or chipped
• Maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets
• Program phone equipment according to hotel needs
• Work with and train hotel maintenance staff in various areas
• Maintain the quality of appearance of interior and exterior of the hotel
• Paint and stain walls, trim, and doors
• Repair wallpaper, carpet, sheetrock, and doors of the hotel
• Keep an orderly and well‑stocked inventory of finishing supplies needed in the hotel
• Maintain superior quality in the guest rooms
• Check operation of all guest room equipment
• Correct minor problems and report major problems to the General Manager
• Keep records of rooms completed
• Ensure par stocking of regularly used parts and supplies
• Inspect and repair minor problems in common areas
• Learn emergency procedures
• Operate all equipment, chemicals, and lockout procedures safely
• Report to work for scheduled shifts, on time, and in uniform according to company policy
• Know and comply with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent experience preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree, technical school, or equivalent experience in a hotel or related field preferred
• Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Valid driver’s license required
• Customer service skills required
• Prioritization and time‑management skills required
• Must have a strong attention to detail
