Position: GENERAL MAINTENANCE TECH - PAINTER (FT)
JOB TITLE: General Maintenance Tech - Painter
DEPARTMENT: Plant Operations
REPORTS TO: Facilities Director

JOB SUMMARY
The General Maintenance Tech Painter is responsible for maintaining the aesthetic, sanitary, and structural integrity of the facility's interior and exterior throughout the hospital. They perform skilled surface prep, application of specialized coatings, and repair drywall while adhering to strict infection control and safety protocols to protect vulnerable patients and staff.

This role also performs routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on equipment, tools, furniture, and building systems. The Painter follows all assigned tasks and work orders as directed by the Facilities Director while complying with hospital safety policies and infection control standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Three to five years of painting in a commercial, industrial, or Healthcare facility preferred.
  • Must be willing to work beyond normal hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary.
  • Required to be available for emergency situations.
  • Required to be part of On Call rotation.
EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of painting in a commercial, industrial, or Healthcare facility preferred.

  • Knowledge of facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, and safe working practices, including the use of power equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs as needed.
  • Perform all duties in a manner consistent with safety principles.
  • Must be highly motivated and exhibit a positive attitude towards the mission of their department and the facility as a whole.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Specialized knowledge and/or certification as a Painter preferred. Must maintain a valid clean Wyoming Driver's license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Painter Duties
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and urgent repair needs.
  • Patches and prepare surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, torching and/or smoothing prior to applying finishing materials.
  • Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, wire brushes, or steel wool and removes old paint from surfaces using paint remover, scrapers, wire brushes or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Fills nail holes, cracks and joints with putty, plaster or other fillers.
  • Select premixed paints or prepares paint to match specified colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances.
  • Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint-roller.
  • Rigs staging or erects scaffolding.
  • Spreads cloth or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from spattered paint.
  • Maintains existing paint surfaces by matching/tinting appropriate paint products.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas in clean and safe conditions.
  • Properly stores, cleans and disposes of all supplies and equipment used according to departmental policies and procedures.
General Duties
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment throughout all areas of the hospital and all external campuses for patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, tools, furniture, fixtures, and building systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance, safety, or operational issues.
  • Assist with room setups, furniture moves, and minor installations.
