Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician
The Army National Guard utilizes many forms of sophisticated equipment on and off the field. As a Special Electronic Devices Repairer, you will ensure that vital instruments and tools are meticulously maintained and operational. This includes night vision equipment, electronic distance and azimuth‑orienting devices, battlefield illumination devices, and nuclear, biological, and chemical warning and measuring devices, among others.
Responsibilities- Test instruments, navigational controls, and simulators
- Read technical diagrams and manuals
- Replace parts as needed
- Ensure quality control measures
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment
- Supervise and train other soldiers in the craft (advanced level)
- Interest in mathematics, problem‑solving, and electronic equipment repair
- Strong attention to detail
Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to pursue a civilian career with the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or the National Weather Service.
Training and PayJob training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training followed by 25 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, conducted in classrooms, on equipment, and in field simulations. You will earn a regular paycheck while training and qualify for tuition assistance.
