Job Title
Transportation Maintenance Technician
Responsibilities- Assist with production and deployment of traffic and pedestrian signage, barricades, and control devices.
- Assemble vinyl signage and install parking lot, garage, informational, and way‑finding signage.
- Operate drill press, grinder, metal hydraulic shearing equipment, and other metalworking tools to repair or fabricate signs.
- Support special events (e.g., football games) by placing and recovering signs and traffic devices.
- Maintain and repair parking‑related equipment and structures, including painting, striping, pressure washing, grinding, sandblasting, and minor welding.
- Observe and report signage, barricade, and parking maintenance issues.
- Promote vehicle and parking structure security and safety compliance.
- High‑school graduation or equivalent training/experience.
- Minimum one year of experience in painting, construction trades, traffic control, or barricade/sign production and deployment.
- Ability to multi‑task and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, occasional holidays, and during home football games.
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions, walk long distances, and lift moderate to heavy weights regularly.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Experience with sign production, deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience painting parking structures or striping parking lots.
- Experience moving or backing up trailers.
- Certification or license in one or more mechanical/electrical trades.
- Knowledge of the TAMU (College Station) campus and familiarity with campus traffic control.
- Use of a university vehicle required for most duties.
