Position Overview

This position serves as the Technician Inspection Specialist on the District Bridge Inspection team which makes detailed inspections of bridges and structures throughout the district. These duties are necessary to fulfill the requirements of the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), compile information needed to program necessary repairs, and most importantly, ensure public safety.

Essential Functions
  • Directs and supervises, on a day-to-day basis, the bridge inspection team in the continuing detailed field inspection of bridges and structures throughout the district to ensure compliance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards.
  • Conducts field inspections involving fracture critical structures, pin and link assemblies, underwater bridge inspection and scour analysis to meet the requirements of the National Bridge Inspection Standards.
  • Conducts visual inspection of bridges to seek out damaged or deteriorated components, providing records and photographs of deficiencies detected and makes appropriate recommendations for repair or further structural analysis.
